Benefits:
■
Maximize the performance of copper wire with
higher speed and longer coverage distance
■
Provides 2-pair, 4-pair and 8-pair bonding with
symmetric bandwidth of up to 45 Mbps
■
The best replacement solution for legacy and
expensive lease lines
EFM (Ethernet-in-the-First-Mile), also known as IEEE 802.3ah,
is a matured technology for delivering symmetric bandwidth
to businesses, government offices and organizations with
multiple locations (multiple-site). It allows continuous
standard Ethernet network to reach across the globe,
eliminating non-native transport such as Ethernet over
ATM from the access networks. EFM delivers up to 5.7 Mbps
per line with standard equipment supporting up to 8-way
bonding—a relatively high-performance connection with
up to 45 Mbps bandwidth symmetrically with high stability,
low delay and low packet loss.
Today’s carriers are eager to connect business customers
to their metro networks. The G.SHDSL.bis EFM technology
is the best solution for enterprises with the demand to a
certain amount of transmission over symmetric bandwidth.
It has advantages of maximizing the performance of copper
wire with higher speed and longer distance coverage. By
leveraging pre-installed bundles of twisted-pair cable to
deliver the first-mile broadband network access, ZyXEL
bonded G.SHDSL.bis with EFM solution to smoothen the
issues of fiber-optic cable installation. In addition to offering
different bandwidth packages by using the G.SHDSL.
bis bonding technology, this is the best solution that
enables carriers to expand service offerings in high-margin
enterprise markets.
The use of IP over Ethernet in subscriber access applications
eliminates unnecessary network layers. It reduces the
number of elements on a network as well as the equipment,
operational and complexity costs. Simple architectures
are always easier to manage, especially in complicated
central environments. In the first mile, native Ethernet on
copper or optical fiber networks will provide significant
cost advantage over other technologies. These IP/Ethernet
networks can coexist with time-division multiplexing (TDM)
services.
The ZyXEL IES-708-22A G.SHDSL.bis is an 8-port IP DSLAM
using port bonding to create symmetrical connections; by
bundling up to eight pairs of copper wires, it makes point-
to-point connections of up to 45.6 Mbps possible. With the
multi-pair bonding (ITU G. bond or ITU G.998.1) between
two IES-708s, the data traffic is distributed to the remaining
connections within the group if a link fails. When the link
becomes available again, it is automatically reintegrated
into the group; as such different or unsteady line quality
within the group does not cause any interruption. The
ZyXEL IES-708-22A can be used as either DSLAM or STU-R
(end device) depending on the firmware loaded.
ZyXEL’s P792 G.SHDSL.bis Series complies with the ITU-T
991.2 G.SHDSL, G.SHDSL.bis and IEEE 802.3ah standards
and offers superior Ethernet connection reliability with
unmatched rate and reach. The P-793H Series complies
with ITU-T G.998.1 (G. Bond) and supports 4-wire bundle for
higher bandwidth and longer distance.
With ZyXEL’s End-to-end G.SHDSL.bis with EFM Solution
for business customer edge on customer premises, service
providers can quickly and cost-effectively introduce
profitable broadband services to businesses, governments,
schools and other organizations by fulfilling the demand for
higher bandwidth with manageable cost. Please refer to the
application diagram and supported product tables for more
details.
